Additional information on item: An architectural view of the old and new at the Christian Science Church Center. The tower on the left is part of the original edifice of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Massachusetts, completed in 1894. In the center is the dome of the Extension of the Mother Church. This building was completed in 1906 when the congregation outgrew the original edifice. To the right is a corner of the Church Colonnade building -- part of the new construction for the Church Center, which was completed in 1975. The Church of Christ, Scientist, was founded in 1879 by New England religious leader Mary Baker Eddy.
