After midnight on Monday, 24 May 1926, The Owl (a midnight express from Boston to New York) collided with a Providence-Lowell freight train in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Freight cars and passenger coaches were strewn over the tracks, the engine and one coach were overturned, and two boxcars were crushed in the crash. (Boston Traveler, 24 May 1926)
