New High School, 1937, Columbia Street, taken from the corner of Common Street. Land was purchased from the Russell family, who had sold their land for the original Phillips High School across the street. The building traversed the Treadaway Brook which caused problems when preparing the site. The building is three stories high, entering on the second floor on the Columbia Street side. Dark red brick and Indiana limestone was used for the trimmings. A large auditorium and gymnasium for public used were included.
