A man of character/ and integrity, and the trusted agent for/ this part of the Commonwealth of the Old/ Colonial Civil Government of Plymouth./ This tablet in the Dartmouth Historical Society, New Bedford, Mass./ 'In memory of/ John Cooke/ Pilgrim - Pioneer - Preacher.'"
