Title from materials accompanying item.
Text from accompanying materials: It showed my great great grandparents Alexander and Joan Rodgers and their large family, including their son Barnet Rodgers and his wife back on a visit to the family home from the USA. My mother now in her mid eighties has put names to the people in the picture (she's one of the oldest living members of the family i know of) I believe the Rogers family who were involved in the Eagle Tribune are direct descendants of Barnet. Anyway here's a guide to who is who. Starting from the top left (back row) Barnet Rodgers himself. Next to him is the one person my mother could not positively identify but she thinks may be Barnet‘s wife. Next to her is Isobel Rodger (sister of Bamet) Next is Alexander Rodger (brother of Barnet) Then it's Helen Rodger (sister of Bamet) Then it's William Rodger (brother of Barnet) Then it‘s Janet (Rodger) Laurie (sister of Barnet) Next to her is her husband Jim Laurie. Next to him is Margaret Rodger (sister of Barnet) Finally its Alexander Beattie my great grandfather. Starting again from the left side of the next row Captain Bell and next to him his wife. They are the in-laws of Barnet‘s brother Alexander. Next to them is Alexander's wife holding their son Herbert. Alex, his wife and son moved away to live in South Africa and my mother still writes so some of their family Next is William‘s wife holding their son William. Next is Joan Watson Greig Rodger, mother to Barnet and my great great grandmother. Next is Eliza (Rodger) Beattie, Barnet's sister and my great grandmother She is holding Joan, the first of their five daughters and my great aunt. Finally at the end of the row is Alexander Rodger, husband of Joan Watson Greig, father of Barnet and my great great grandfather. The four children seated in the from are the children of Janet Rodger and Jim Laurie. one was named Meg (Margaret) and another was Jo (Joan) both of whom i remember visiting in Arbroath as a child. My maternal grandmother was Margaret Beattie, her sisters Mae (Mary Ann) and Bette moved to the States, married and died there without any children. Jo the oldest sister never married, lived and died in Dundee. Lizzie their sister married and had one son John deceased. My grandmother had a son Rodger who died in his mid fifties leaving one daughter while Muriel, her daughter, my mother had three of a family.....I‘m the eldest and i have a sister Joan and a brother Richard. My mother, sister and i plus husbands, all live in Tayport in the county of Fife across the River Tay from Dundee where we were all born.
