Note on back of item: The new shell will be occupied by conductor Arthur Fiedler and his orchestra of Boston Symphony men when the 12th season of Esplanade Concerts begins Wednesday evening, July 3. The $270,000 used for construction of the shell was a bequest of Maria Hatch for a memorial to her brother, Edward Hatch. The new shell will be faced with granite. The interior where the musicians sit is to be lined with Burma teakwood.
