This letter is a reply to Ellis Gray Loring's letter of Sept. 9, 1853; see Call No. Ms.A.9.2 v.27, p.63.
Anne Warren Weston writes: "It is not my wish that Mr. Thompson should come to this country to preach Disunion. I wished him to give old fashioned A. S. [Anti-Slavery] Lectures suited to wake up the people..." She argues that there is always hostility to the abolitionists no matter whether they belong to the disunion or Gerrit Smith faction. She believes that George Thompson can stir things up.
