Notes:
The tennis courts were located on the lower campus, on the land east of Summer Street across from the original campus property. According to the 1948-50 catalog, "The objectives of the department of Physical Education for Women are twofold: 1. personal - to help the student to develop a wholesome philosophy of health, physical activity and recreation and to develop skills and understandings necessary for expressing this philosophy in every day living; 2. professional - to aid the student in becoming an effective teacher or leader in home, school, playground, camp or in other common situations in which the public school teacher or college graduate may be of service."
