Notes:
Telegrams and letters of sympathy poured in from across the state and the nation, as news of the fire spread. Principals of the other Massachusetts State Normal Schools, as well as the principal of the Rhode Island College of Education, wrote to offer assistance of any kind. The pastor of the First Congregational Society in Bridgewater wrote to offer "the use of our parish house and its equipment for as long a period as you will need it."
