The earliest known printing of a bill drafted by Thomas Jefferson in 1777. The bill was submitted to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1779 and eventually passed by the General Assembly in 1786. Jefferson's original manuscript draft is lost. This broadside, the sole surviving copy of which is held by the Boston Public Library, was printed privately in 1779.
