Letter from Angelina Emily Grimkè, Brookline, [Massachusetts], to Elizabeth J. Davis, 1838 March 18
Description:
Sarah Moore Grimkè writes to Elizabeth J. Davis regarding clarification on a previous letter sent. She asks, "I do not fully understand what you mean by 'addressing your annual meeting,' whether it is expected that we should address a meeting of women only, or whether it will be a meeting of men & women. If the former we must decline your invitation, but we are quite willing to hold a public meeting on the 24th of next month." She asks to be informed of where they should stay in Providence and hold the meeting. She writes, "We do not wish to remain in Prov. longer than is necessary as business demands our attention in Philad."
