Letter from Hiram Wilsom, Salem, to William Lloyd Garrison, 1846 April 6th
Description:
In this letter probably written to William Lloyd Garrison, Hiram Wilson suggests that abolitionists would best help the cause "by attending properly to the welfare & usefulness of the forlorn fugutive [slave]." Wilson states that "the Canadian host ... may yet furnish Douglasses, who will cause the Bastile of Slavery to shake as by the convulsions of earthquakes." He also requests that a notice be included in the Liberator thanking the Female Anti-Slavery Society of West Reading, Massachusetts and Stillman Lothrop for their contributions.
