Letter from John Greenleaf Whittier, Amesbury, [Massachusetts], to William Lloyd Garrison, [1864 October] 12
Description:
John Greenleaf Whittier writes to William Lloyd Garrison requesting "immediately a copy of a letter addressed to Bishop [John] England of S[outh] C[arolina] on the subject of Slavery & the Catholic Church by John O'Connell son of the Liberator [Daniel O'Connell]." Whittier says although it was written at least 20 years earlier, its "publication now would be good" and he says he "think[s] it was printed in the Liberator; possibly in the Boston Pilot."
