Letter from Andrew Paton, Glasgow, [Scotland], to Mary Anne Estlin, 1853 April 23
Description:
Andrew Paton writes to Mary Anne Estlin in regards to sending her copies of the address of the Glasgow Female A.S. Society to Mrs. Stowe & of her reply. He writes about the issues between the old anti-slavery societies and the new ones and remarks, "any one unacquainted with history of the Society in Glasgow or America w[oul]d from it have the impression that the old Societies were rather blameable for the disunion, at least it bears this aspect to me, & also to several of our friends." He writes of Mrs. Stowe's conversation with the new society and his thoughts on her behavior and her reply to "the allegations of infidelity against the Amer[ican] A.S. Soc[iet]y & Mr. Garrison."
