Description:
Henry Egbert Benson writes to William Lloyd Garrison sending him "some original pieces for the Liberator from the pens of some of the Colored females of this city." He asks Garrison to continue sending the Liberator to all of his usual subscribers and tells him of "an excellent address on the subject of Peace" that was delivered by William Ladd. Benson says that Ladd's "cause is Peace and he wishes to pursue such a course as to offend neither party. Let the anti-slavery party become the strongest & he will be an anti-Colonizationist. He is looking out solely for his own cause." Benson thinks Garrison "lashed William [Ladd] rather severely" in the last Liberator and states that he "dare not say any thing more about the formation of an Anti Slavery Society in this city - I have written so often that it was about being done." Still, Benson "feel[s] confident we shall have one yet."
