Letter from Henry Egbert Benson, Prov[idence, Rhode Island], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1864 March 25th
Description:
Henry Egbert Benson writes to William Lloyd Garrison asking Garrison to forward 11 different issues of the Liberator to "Mr. Chace" and to discontinue the subscription of "Francis Talbery." Benson reports that the Providence Anti-Slavery Society has received $30 and plans to use the money to publish and circulate an address by James Scott "to the people of this state." He also states that Thomas Williams has organized several antislavery societies across Rhode Island and "says he will have one in every town in the state before summer." Benson adds that "a large Society is to be formed in Millbury, Mass[achusetts] tonight."
