Letter from George Thompson, London, [England], to Richard David Webb, 1846 Sep[tember] 26
Description:
George Thompson writes to Richard Davis Webb in regards to understanding why Webb wants to detain William Lloyd Garrison. He hopes he doesn't leave England without touring more to regions where he has not yet been seen and is consequently unknown. He expects there should be a good turnout for the meeting at Wrexham. He writes, "I look to his visit there as the commencement of some valuable and earnest League movements." Douglass and he shall attend and share the work. He writes of other meetings he is to attend. He writes, "We should ask ourselves not only where Garrison is wanted and might do good but where is most wanted & can do most good." He says, "Come with him dear Richard and let us blend the Irish, English, Welsh, Scottish, and American Antislavery at our Wrexham meeting."
