Letter from Edwin Thompson, Fall River, [Massachusetts], to Maria Weston Chapman, [1839] August 28
Description:
Edwin Thompson writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to sending her money for the anti-slavery fair which should be credited to the female anti-slavery society in Dighton. He became reacquainted with a Mrs. Anthony Read and found that nothing had been done in the way of lecturing and only one regular publication (Liberator) went to the village. He has formed a society consisting of 20 members which has suffered "much reproach" which some of the members were unable to bear. He encouraged them and received some money to donate.
