Letter from Eunice Dorman, Kennebunk, [Maine], to Maria Weston Chapman, 1842 December 25
Description:
Eunice Dorman writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to her religious faith. She complains of the people who have "cruel thoughts in their hearts and call them thoughts of mercy." She wishes that a "true prwacher of righteousness" would come to Saco and Kennebunk. She planned to attend the Christmas fair in Boston, but the death of a "beloved brother has changed my purpose." She hopes to meet Mrs. Lydia Maria Child, "for I think she preaches the true gospel." She encloses money for the anti-slavery cause from her sister Hannah and herself. She regrets that the non-resistant has stopped.
