Calls attention to a current discussion of his theories in the Journal des Économistes (Paris) Praises [R. H. Shannon's] l'estiges [?] of Civilization. Carey had written to the Journal des Économistes suggesting that Frédéric Bastiat's Les Harmonics Èconomiques had been based on his ideas. This letter, with replies by Bastiât and A. Clement, is printed in the Journal, 15 Jan 1851, p 38. Further discussion appears in the issues of 15 May (p. 43) June 15 (p. 156) Oct. 15 (p.140), and Nov. 15 (p. 233), 1851.
