After being located in cramped quarters in Haskell Hall for nearly 20 years, the library was ready for change. Longtime library director Oscar Schmidt decided on a functional and modern style of building that would blend with the campus. On April 17 1970, the new library was dedicated with former president G. Eric Jones in attendance.
