Navy Yard from North End of Boston about 1870. The dry-dock begun in 1827 and finished in 1833 of granite masonry 341 feet [80 feet] x 30 feet, cost $675,000. In the background at right is U.S. Marine Hospital on crest of a high hill in Chelsea near mouth of Mystic River. The Naval Hospital is at foot of same hill.
