Handwritten note accompanying item: This picture of Gov. Andrew's Library No. 110 Charles St. Boston Mass. was printed on Ded. 16, 1881 on page 7 of No. 9 of "The Sword and the Pen" a paper published in the interest of the Soldiers Home Bazaar. Among the things of interest in this room are: a rifle carried by one of John Brown's men at Harper's Ferry, a Confederate flag captured at Roanoke Island, a picture of the birth place of Gov. Andrew, painted by Ordway, a lock of hair of George Washington, and of Alexander Hamilton, an autograph letter or George Washington, the original of the last order given by Robert E. Lee to his army and signed by himself, and a chair which once belonged to Peregrine White.
