Description:
This fragment is in the hand of Parker Pillsbury. It gives a detailed account of the escape of a slave from New Orleans to Liverpool on board the ship, "Asterion." Pillsbury discusses the reaction of Frederick Douglass and his friends to the last letter of John Bishop Estlin.

This letter was possibly written to Samuel May, Jr., with whom Pillsbury corresponded frequently during his agency in Europe on behalf of the American Anti-Slavery Society.
