Letter from John W. Lewis, Lowell, Mass., to William Lloyd Garrison, Dec[ember] 20th, 1852
Description:
John W. Lewis forwards to William Lloyd Garrison, via Mr. W.C. Wood, a book entitled "The Life, Labours, and travels of Eld Charles Bowle", including an "essay on the Character and Condition of the African Race", and an essay on the Fugitive Slave Act. Lewis states that the work has been made an anti-slavery one, to the extent that this was within his power. Lewis inquires if Garrison would be able to examine the work at his convenience and publish a review of it in the Liberator.
