Elizabeth Pease Nichol forwards to William Lloyd Garrison the sum of £50 as a contribution to the antislavery cause from their mutual friend Thomas Sturge. Nichol opines that the military success of the United States forces against the Confederate rebellion should bode well for Abraham Lincoln's re-election chances.
