Letter from Richard Plumer, Newburyport, [Mass.], to William Lloyd Garrison, Nov[ember] 24th 1854
Description:
Richard Plumer extends an invitation to William Lloyd Garrison for him to deliver a lecture in his "native place", and informs Garrison that he has arranged to have the City Hall reserved for the occasion. Plumer informs Garrison that the hall seats nearly one thousand persons, and announces his expectation that it will be full to receive Garrison's speech. Plumer states that lecturers with too great an "orthodox influence" in their thought are unlikely to be appreciated in Newburyport.
