Additional information accompanying item: From a letter to Mr. Wiggin Sept. 6, 1944: "About a year ago there was an etching of mine published semi-privately -- 'The Morgan at Mystic'. The whole edition of 72 was bought by the Marine Historical Association at Mystic with funds supplied for the purpose by one of the directors -- J.H. Kynett of Philadelphia who made it conditional that a copy of the etching was to be given to those who subscribed $1,000.00 or over to the Marine Hospital, but to no others. He kept the trial proofs and allowed me for myself 6 (six) prints one of which I should like to send to you so you can present it to the Wiggin Collection in the Boston Public Library, to help keep the collection complete." Signed in the plate "McBey Oct. 1942." Signed in ink in the lower right margin "James McBey." Also signed to the left and inscribed "To Albert H. Wiggin, James McBey, 12 Sept. 1944). Published state LX.
