Notes (object):
Prior to conservation in 2018: leaves tipped in to a 19th-century album halfbound in maroon pebbled goatskin and marbled papers. An undated BPL gift bookplate is present on the front pastedown. Leaves currently foldered individually and housed together with previous album binding.
Notes (historical):
Thomas Lechford (approximately 1590-1644) emigrated to New England, where he stayed between June 1638 and August 1641. The first practising attorney in New England, Lechford was disbarred for "embracery" in 1639. He subsequently supported himself by working as a scrivener. Lechford stirred religious controversy through the circulation, in manuscript, of his ideas regarding error in various aspects of Puritan doctrine.
