Artist Verneda Lights used a chair of her own that, to her, represented her own personal multi-faceted journey in life. A conversation with Ms. Freedman-Gurspan resulted in the creation of eight panels that were used in the upholstery of the chair. The base incorporates a transgender flag of pink, blue, and white. The front panel honors Ms. Freedman-Gurspan’s fondness of eagle feathers as symbols. Another symbol incorporated in the design is the Star of David, honoring Ms. Freedman-Gurspan’s Jewish heritage.
