Notes:
The first building in the United States constructed specifically for the training of teachers was the Normal School Building in Bridgewater, erected in 1846. The original wooden structure was 2 stories tall could accommodate 84 students. Two wings were added in 1861 and a third story was added in 1871. The building was removed in 1890 and replaced by a brick Normal School Building. To the left of the Normal School Building is Normal Hall, the student dormitory.
