The Jetty, Gorleston
Item Information
- Title:
- The Jetty, Gorleston
- Description:
-
The Jetty, an old wooden structure, projects into the sea on both sides of the Yare, at Its mouth. Along the Jetty on the near side lie several fishing rods ready for use; one man is fishing, with his right foot resting on the rail at the Jetty's edge. On the left is a small building with an old-fashioned wooden tower (on the top of It a wooden staff) and beyond it a harbour lighthouse. About a dozen men are busy among logs and blocks of stone on the Jetty, and the last of them, near the middle of the plate, holds a rod. Similar small patches of heavy dry-point and short curved lines extend to a total instance of 6 in. from the left end of the plate. Beyond these are older outlines of stones which have been burnished out.
