Description:
Nathaniel Peabody Rogers writes to William Lloyd Garrison expressing his regret for not seeing him before he left. Rogers tells Garrison, "I hoped to see you before I went, I called at your house - I leave you my most affectionate good bye." He also emphasizes his hope that nothing has come between them and their friendship.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript in black ink on white, lined paper. On the first and fourth pages, there are a number of lines drawn in pencil going across the page. In the head- fore corner of the first page, the words "1845" and "Jan. 3" are written in pencil. Additionally, below the signature on the third page, "1845" is written again in pencil. On the fourth page, the letter is addressed "To Wm Lloyd Garrison" and is written upside-down. Along the spine edge of this page, the words "N.P. Rogers" are written in pencil vertically, facing the fore edge of the page. Along the fore edge of the page is the remnant of a red seal, mostly covered in paper.
