Description:
Henry Ward Beecher writes to Wendell Phillips Garrison asking Garrison to "find our respecting this man & his worthiness." Beecher says "he ought to have some more credentials" and that he has received just two letters about this man. Beecher states "if it is all right, I shall be happy to do what I can." In the postscript, he tells Garrison that he is leaving for Baltimore on Monday.

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white, gridded paper. Above the salutation, the number "17" is written in pencil, while in the head- spine corner the words, "To Wendell P. Garrison." are written in black ink. On the recto, along the spine edge, the phrase, "H.W. Beecher. Brooklyn, Jan. 28, '65. (To W.P.G.)" is written in pencil vertically, facing the fore edge of the page.
