Letter from Charles King Whipple, Boston, [Massachusetts], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1869 Aug[ust] 31st
Description:
Charles K. Whipple writes to William Lloyd Garrison informing him that he received "a letter from Mrs. Mary A. Livermore of Chicago" requesting Lucy Stone and Garrison attend a "Western Women's Convention" being held in Chicago as representatives of the New England Women's Suffrage Association. He also states that at a meeting of the Executive Committee, they agreed to send Garrison and Stone as requested, as well as sending representatives to the "later Convention at St. Louis, and also that Mrs. [Julia Ward] Howe should go as a representative of the American advocates of Woman's enfranchisement to the great Convention to be held in November at Berlin." Whipple also explains there may be some trouble paying the expenses for all the delegations before ending and signing his letter. On the third and fourth pages, Whipple copied the votes passed by the Executive Committee and signs his name, "Charles K. Whipple, Secretary."
