In this letter to William Lloyd Garrison and his wife, Helen Eliza Garrison, Joshua Bowen Smith, Benjamin Weeden, and T. Jimmings, Jr., invite the Garrisons to "an entertainment to be given for the benefit of Mr. David Ruggles of N.Y. Editor and propriertor of the Mirror of Liberty ..." Before signing their names, the letter ends by announcing Smith, Weeden, and Jimmings as having "the honor to subscribe ourselves the true friends of all who plead for Human Rights."
