Description:
In this letter to William Lloyd Garrison from Rebecca B. Spring, Spring relates that she heard from Oliver Johnson that Garrison will be in Pennsylvania next week. She invites Garrison "to open next Sunday with us. It will be a great joy to us to have you in our home and to all the dwellers at Eagleswood to have you come." On the following page, Rebecca B. Spring's husband, Marcus Spring, adds a postscript dated, "30th" and addressed to "Dear Mr. Garrison" where he explains that he nearly lost and then rewrote Rebecca's letter when the original "emerged, just now, from an unusual overcoat pocket". Spring hopes the letter will not reach Garrison too late for him to visit and he says he will "also leave word at the A[nti] S[lavery] office here to try to stop you in case this is in Boston too late."

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white, lined paper with a small checkmark drawn in the head- spine corner of the first page. Above the salutation, the number "128" is written in pencil. The letter from Rebecca Spring is on the first page, while a postscript by her husband, Marcus Spring, dated "30th" is on the second page. Along the tail edge of the third page a note written in a different handwriting states, "(Marcus Spring. His wife Rebecca B. Spring, was the daughter of Arnold Buffum.)"
