Louis Borchardt writes to Francis Jackson Garrison saying he is "sorry to hear that your father [William Lloyd Garrison] has been suffering again" and asks if he has been "using warm baths without good effect?" He also thanks Garrison for his visit, remarking that the "the only thing we regret in connection with it, is, that it was so very short."

Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white stationery with the letterhead reading "Barton Arcade, Manchester". In the head- spine corner of the first page there is an image of a blue oval belt containing the words, "Dr. Borchardt", above which is written "To F.J.G." in a different handwriting and a different shade of black ink. Above the salutation, the number "115" is written in pencil. The paper also contains a watermark that shows the image of a crown above the words "Royal Irish Linen Marcus Ward & Co".
