Letter from Rebecca Ives Streeter, Salem, [Massachusetts], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1854 Oct[ober] 2
Description:
Rebecca Ives Streeter writes to William Lloyd Garrison stating that "in the absence from the city of the Secretary [of the Salem Female Anti Slavery Society] I have undertaken the service of extending the invitation voted by the society" to lecture before them and "essentially aid the cause of Freedom." Streeter explains the lecture series at Lyceum Hall will include "ten lectures on Sunday evenings commencing if possible in October." She adds that the society "will admit of no compensation in money although they will defray all expenses" but "will take pleasure in entertaining you while here."
