Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white paper. There is a purple postmarked stamp that says "Phelps Mss." In the top left corner, there is the number "41" written in pencil. On the back of the letter, there is a red stamp that says "New York Aug 21." Also on the back of the letter appears to be blocks of annotated notes concerning lectures and sermons written in pencil. It is unclear if this was written by Whittier or someone else.
