Description:
John Greenleaf Whittier writes to Amos A. Phelps regarding his disapproval of the course of the Liberator. He writes, "I have put forwarded to Garrison a letter in reference to the "Newark Perfectement" letter. I sent a resolution and a letter to the Ess. Co. A.S.Soc. (being unable to attend)-disapproving of the course of the Liberator in this matter but it was voted down." He suggests that "Protests, are decididly unpopular, a simple communication in the Liberator would be best."
