Letter from Richard Davis Webb, Dublin, [Ireland], to Elizabeth Pease Nichol, 1867 August 11
Description:
Richard Davis Webb writes to Elizabeth Pease Nichol that since he received her last "very welcome, kind & interesting letter" and had not acknowledged it sooner, he is afraid that she may think him "unmannered & neglectful." He thanks Nichol for being kind to his friends "when the Garrisons came to Edinburgh" and notes he has received letters from Mrs. [Fanny Garrison] Villard and Frank [Garrison], William Lloyd Garrison's children. Webb then discusses his desire to go to the United States but "dreads the idea of an American winter" and considers going to Paris to the International Anti-Slavery Conference "to see something more of our dear friends - the glorious father & his two charming children." In the postscript, Webb describes the Garrison's plans to attend the conference in Paris "then go to Switzerland & remain during September - & lastly return to England for October and go home by the last Cunard that sails in that month."
