Letter from Samuel Edmund Sewall, Boston, [Massachusetts], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1872 July 30
Description:
Samuel Edmund Sewall writes to William Lloyd Garrison thanking him for his "very acceptable gift of Mazzini." Sewall says that he has "read your introduction and a part of the rest of the book with great interest" before discussing a recent speech made by Charles Sumner denouncing President Grant. Sewall thinks Sumner's speech "will [not] prevent Grant from being elected, but he will destroy all his own political influence in Massachusetts."
