Letter from Henry Wilson, Washington, [District of Columbia], to William Lloyd Garrison, [18]64 Feb[ruar]y 11
Description:
Henry Wilson writes to William Lloyd Garrison discussing a conversation he had with Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. Stanton told Wilson that Benjamin Lundy's father provided Lundy with the money to start his newspaper and "he then remarked that there was one person whom he wished to see before he died, and that person was yourself." Wilson reiterates his own invitation to Garrison to come to Washington and visit his "numerous friends here ... and at the same time gratify the wish of the Hon[orable] Secretary."
