Letter from Elizur Wright, Brooklyn, [New York], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1834 April 9
Description:
In this letter to William Lloyd Garrison, Elizur Wright, Jr., introduces "two of my pupils from the Western Reserve College - Messrs. Beckwith & Chapin" calling them, "abolitionists of course." He asks Garrison to "show them the machinery by which you make 'fanatics' and turn the world upside down." Wright then discusses "Dr. [Nathanael] Emmons, saying he "has turned fanatic in his old age" and reports that "Mr. [Henry G.] Ludlow, a Presbyterian clergyman" has offered to serve as an agent (probably for the American Anti-Slavery Society). In the postscript, Wright says he hopes to see Garrison soon and that his "wife sends love & so does 'Pinkey.'"
