Description:
James Ballard writes to William Lloyd Garrison thanking him for his latest letter and assuring him that "anything [that] has dropped from your pen will always make it interesting." He discusses his friendship with Garrison, saying "our spirits are somewhat congenial" before thanking him for the latest Liberator. Ballard also discusses Nathan Brown, his brother-in-law, who has "entered the ranks of the editorial corps," editing the Telegraph in Brandon, Vermont. He sends Garrison the names of two subscribers to the Liberator and promises to send him "Mr. Brown's first paper which contains a note of my school which I wish you would copy into your paper". He also says he expects to be married in about a year and tells Garrison "i know know of no person that I should be more pleased to have among the guests than yourself." After his autograph, a postrscript is written by his sister, E[liza] W[hitney] Brown, wishing Garrison "success in the glorious cause you have espoused."
