Letter from James Miller M'Kim, Phila[delphia, Pennsylvania], to William Lloyd Garrison, [1863] Nov[ember] 24th
Description:
James Miller M'Kim writes to William Lloyd Garrison "to ask whether you expect that we will get up & announce a programme of proceedings" [probably for the American Anti-Slavery Society Third Decade Meeting]. M'Kim "presume[s] you only mean some course of procedure - not to be announced to the public" but for their own use, and suggests instead that a public announcment be made in newspapers during the following week. He tells Garrison it should also be published in the New York Tribune "at the earliest possible moment. That paper circualtes here & everywhere largely." He tells Garrison to send an advertisement to Oliver Johnson and "he will doubtless have it put into the Tribune with an editorial reference." M'Kim also encourages Garrison to "bring Mrs. G. if you can possibly do for we have house room & heart-room for your whole family."
