Letter from Samuel May, Leicester, [Massachusetts], to William Lloyd Garrison, [1871 July] 3d
Description:
Samuel May writes to William Lloyd Garrison about the death of Samuel Joseph May. He asks, "Who would he more desire should say a loving word over his grave than you?" May explains he does not know the details of the funeral but he will leave Boston on Wednesday afternoon. He tells Garrison that if he is able to travel to the funeral, he requests "the sad satisfaction of being chargeable with your expenses to & fro." Along the spine edge of the page, May adds, "Charlotte Coffin should by all means go."
