Letter from J.H. Crane, Millville, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, 1850 June 14th
Description:
J.H. Crane writes to Samuel May assuring him that "there has been no misunderstanding about the time of holding the proposed convention here, between you and myself." Crane explains that he told Abby Kelley Foster that her husband, Stephen Symonds Foster should come to Millville for the convention rather than a week earlier, as originally planned, but that "in the hurry of leaving in the cars she probably misunderstood me." Crane suggests holding "the convention in Darling's Hall (Millville) at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon" and he asks May to have the notice printed in the next issue of the Liberator. He tells May, "I anticipate a large meeting, if the weather is favorable."
