Letter from Robert Folger Wallcut, Boston, [Massachusetts], to Samuel May, 1850 June 15
Description:
Robert Folger Wallcut writes to Samuel May telling him that Anne Warren Weston informed him "that a place has been obtained for the safe storage of the Fair Boxes in Worcester & that they may be forwarded at any time." He then tells May that, "nothing need be done about sending them until you come to this city." Wallcut also discusses arrangements for the trip to Abington, saying that the Old Colony Railroad will "convey from all parts of the route to Abington & back at half price" so they will "have no trouble in regard to it." He then reports that Mary Tierney's husband is in the hospital in South Boston and believes he "would be out in a fortnight" as Tierney thought "his foot looked no worse." Wallcut also shares a rumor he heard "announcing the death of Pres[iden]t Taylor suddenly in a fit of apoplexy" but he assumes it must "be a hoax" as he has heard no further information. In the postscirpt, Wallcut states that he received the $7 May sent him "for Mr. Estlin & Miss Lupton."
